The Top 5 West Coast Moments of 2021

With more pros and gloves than any other company in the United States it's no secret there's so much for us to be thankful for and celebrate as another great year comes to a close. It was nearly impossible to pick just five, but here's our Top 5 West Coast Moments of 2021:

5. The Spyder X Sunset became our best selling glove of the year

This spring we released the Spyder X Sunset and it didn't take long for us to realize this glove would be the best selling glove of 2021. Between the Hybrid cut, sleek design, internal grip and super sticky latex, it's no wonder this glove became a viral sensation! Along with so many of you, pros like DiDi Haracic (Angel City FC) and JT Marcinkowski (San Jose Earthquakes) made this their glove of choice.

4. Biggest. Black. Friday. Ever.

2020 was huge but we had to go even bigger for 2021. This year's Black Friday/Cyber Monday promotion brought 3 new gloves, massive discounts AND free gear. If that wasn't enough, the Aloha Collection quickly became one of our most popular releases ever! We've barely gotten all our gear out the door from this year but we've already got our eyes set on even more in 2022. What do you want to see next year???

3. Cassie Miller leads the Chicago Red Stars to the NWSL Finals

Cassie Miller had a break out year in 2021. When the opportunity presented itself early this season to take the reins for the Red Stars, Cassie steeped up and never looked back taking her side all the way to the NWSL Championship match. Wearing the Kona Cyan, she posted some of the best numbers in the league with a .88 GAA, 7 clean sheets and 50 saves.

2. 3 MLS Goalkeeper of the Year finalists, 3 West Coast goalkeepers

West Coast pros Matt Turner, Joe Willis and Andre Blake were named your 3 finalists for MLS Goalkeeper of the Year. While we always believe our guys are the best, it was great for them to receive recognition for the stellar play all season long! Both Matt and Andre (who wore the Phantom Fire and Ice this season) also received MLS All-Star Game nods and combined to help backstop the MLS side to a victory.

1. Matt Turner signs a long term deal with West Coast

No keeper had a more dominant and historic 2021 than Matt Turner. In case his MLS All-Star MVP, MLS Goalkeeper of the Year Award and MLS Best XI weren't enough, he also received the Golden Glove for backstopping the US Men's National Team to a Gold Cup victory. In his signature glove, Matt started 6 games and had 5 clean sheets (plus countless incredible saves) en route to being awarded the Golden Glove for his performance. We are so excited to have Matt with us for the long haul!
