West Coast GK is proud to welcome the first player to have worn our gloves as a collegiate player and make his way to the Pro Ranks. Jon Dawson chose to wear West Coast Goalkeeping gloves over another brand at Butler University and where he was a 3 year starter and also played summers for – Northern Virginia Royals (2010), Seacoast United Phantoms (2011) and Jersey Express (2013) – in addition to the under-23 development squad of Major League Soccer's D.C. United!
Name: Jon Dawson
Fav Food: burrito bowl from chipotle
Fav Movie: Animal House
Fav Music: Kings of Leon
When did you start playing Goalkeeper: age 14
Pre-Game Rituals: I say a prayer as I touch each of the posts.
Best Save you ever made: I took one out of the far post too drawer to side netting area against the U17 national team when I was with the academy. Or the time I made a sprawling out breakaway save in the first round of the Big East tournament against Xavier
Any Training advice to keepers: always have fun and never be afraid to fail, but with that failure you can't grow.
Hobbies?: playing call of duty, helping out around the house and working out. I always like movies and watching Netflix
What do you look for in a glove?: I want something that is tight in the wrist but not too right in the hands. The more surface area for ball to glove contact the better. And most of all I just want it to be comfortable.
What is it like jumping from College to Pro especially in your home town?: It was rough at first. The speed was quicker. But I've adjusted well and being around my friends and family has helped a lot. But most of all the entire fan base has welcomed me with open arms. So that has made it super easy and comforting. I just am looking to continue on the right path of getting this program off the ground as best as I can.
