West Coast Goalkeeping is very proud to announce Jimmy Maurer to the West Coast GK Pro-Team. Having been a starter all 4 years at University of South Carolina, Jimmy had 28 Clean sheets in just under 80 games played. Maurer was selected 4th overall in the 2011 MLS Supplemental Draft by the NY Red Bulls. An incredibly agile Goalkeeper at 6'2" Maurer is the all-time clean sheet leader in the NASL.
Pregame Rituals: Watch a couple games from Europe in the morning. Relax with the family and take a good nap before heading to the stadium. Take a good walk of the field and I'm ready.
Advice to Young Keepers: No matter what level you are focus on doing the little things right and always work hard to get better. GK is a tough position never get too down on yourself or too high.
Favorite Players: Enjoy watching all the top GKs and learning from them. All different styles but especially Buffon, Cech, Lloris, and Muslera.
Favorite thing about being a Goalkeeper: The pressure. Being that last line for your team and coming up big when the team needs it most.
What I like in a glove?: I like a snug fitting, flexible, roll finger. Something that really lets you feel the ball and gives you good control.
Favorite Music?: Depends on the mood. I love it all from good country music on a sunny summer day to reggaeton to get the blood going for a workout.
Best Save you ever made?: Probably would have to go with three saves. Playing Colo Colo, the most famous club in Chile, we went to penalties in a cup match and I saved three out of the four to win it
