West Coast has worked with Tim Melia of Sporting Kansas City just after he left Chivas USA and didn't have a team. We were so excited with the idea of working with Tim because of the great potential that we know Tim had! Tim tried so many different gloves from West Coast before coming to our President Shawn Norris with the idea to create his own glove.
Tim had some great ideas in what he wanted in a glove, the Wrap over/Wrap Under thumb that you see in so many West Coast gloves today, was a Tim Melia concept. When it came to designing the glove, lightweight, flexible and breathable were all vital - but it had to have a large amount of latex to increase surface area when catching.
We went with a traditional Roll Finger/Gunn Cut - and a larger extended Palm. This glove is not a replica, this glove is IDENTICAL to what Tim wears, in fact when Tim Melia needs gloves- it is the same glove we send to normal customers! Tim happens to wear a size 10 if you are curious!
