Winter Weather: Goalkeeping Edition

Winter weather and goalkeeping can seem like a miserable combo but we've got 5 tips and tricks to help you stay sharp and warm, no matter the (cold, rainy, snowy, etc.) conditions!

TIP 1: KEEP MOVING!

When not involved in the play, keep your feet and hands moving! Jumping jacks, running in place and arm circles all help. This keeps the circulation flowing so your don't lose feeling in your fingers and toes. This is true for both training and games.

PRO TIP: Be sure to stay in place and not wander away from your positioning!

TIP 2: WEAR BASELAYERS AND WARM CLOTHES

There is no shame in bundling up- just don't go too bulky during the game! Our BaseLayers were designed for goalkeepers. Snoods and hats are also a must.

PRO TIP: Bundle up or change into dry gear and gloves at half time!

TIP 3: WEAR LATEX GLOVES UNDER YOUR GOALKEEPER GLOVES

Yes... like the ones doctors wear. Surgical gloves hold in the heat and sweat from your hands. They also help your gloves stay in place and act as an internal gripper as your gloves become saturated. We don't make them but they sell them on Amazon.

PRO TIP: Trust us on this one.

TIP 4: HAND WARMERS IN THE FINGER SAVES POUCH

Our midwestern and northern goalkeepers know that every little bit of warmth counts! The pouch in the back of every glove we sell acts as a perfect little space to stick a hand warmer.

PRO TIP: Get a new hand warmer at half time for maximum warmth.

TIP 5: LET YOUR GLOVES DRY

If your gloves get soaked, let them air dry (no heat) before their next use. DON'T THROW THEM IN YOUR BAG ALL WET! This leads to mold growth (that smell) and makes your hands cold before you've even started games or training.

PRO TIP: The Kona line features a water-resistant backhand.
