Olympic Gold Medalist, Kailen Sheridan, Joins WCGK

West Coast Goalkeeping is thrilled to announce the signing of San Diego Wave goalkeeper, Kailen Sheridan, to the West Coast Pro Team!

After winning Olympic Gold this past summer with Team Canada, 26 year old Sheridan has her sights set on the 2023 World Cup and beyond. She has started the last two matches for Canada in the Arnold Clark Cup against England and Germany, posting a clean sheet in the second match. She continues to set herself apart as the Canada #1 heading into World Cup Qualifiers.

Sheridan quickly rose through the ranks in the Canadian Youth National Team Program growing up. She then attended Clemson University where she was First Team All-ACC in 2014 and 2015.

She was selected 23rd in the NWSL draft in 2017 to Sky Blue FC. After spending the past several seasons as the #1 for Gotham FC (formerly Sky Blue FC), Sheridan was traded to the San Diego Wave ahead of their inaugural season.

"Signing Kailen was a no brainer. She is one of the best goalkeepers in the world and has been absolutely dominant in the NWSL for years," stated West Coast president Shawn Norris.

A few of her of accomplishments include:

  • Olympic Gold Medalist, 2021
  • NWSL Best XI, 2021
  • NWSL Challenge Cup Golden Glove Winner, 2020
  • NWSL Goalkeeper of the Year Finalist, 2019 & 2021
  • 18 caps for Team Canada (9 clean sheets)

Kailen is no stranger to the West Coast family having trained for several years with West Coast partners, Jill and Maria Loyden at The Keeper Institute. While she is just getting started trying the wide range of gloves West Coast has to offer, she has settled early on the Phantom line.

Welcome, Kailen!
